Get thee to a nunnery.      Am I a coward?
These tedious old fools.     They are not near my conscience.

WHAT REALLY IS THE MEANING OF THE PLAY?

For centuries audiences have appreciated Hamlet; it is one of the most analyzed works of literature.                                  Many have pondered the depths of its meaning, yet have sensed that as much as is said about it, there                                     remains more to be said.
Questions remain.  Why does Hamlet hesitate?  Why does Hamlet tell Ophelia to get
to a nunnery?  How do we explain "sterling" Hamlet's cruel mockery of Polonius?  Or his seemingly
untroubled conscience when he mistakenly kills Polonius, or intentionally sends Rosencrantz
                     and Guildenstern to their deaths?
HAMLET In Defense of the Faith demonstrates that those elements of the play that seem odd, out of                                     place, inconsistent with Hamlet's character, and that are never fully explained, make perfect                                                       sense in the allegorical context of the play.
